Nathan Football and Kevin’s Birthday

I decided to combine a couple of topics on this blog post.  First, we went to dinner to celebrate Kevin’s 36th birthday and they went to the Casting Crowns concert afterward.  They said it was great!

Among other gifts Kevin received this hat for his birthday.  I think it looks great on him!

Also Nathan’s flag football has finally come to and end.  I did not get many photos because his games were always played at 7:00pm and the light was so low.  Nathan’s team went undefeated.  Besides playing well, Nathan was such an encourager to his teammates….he was always the first one there to congratulate his fellow players after a good play.

This is Nathan showing his delight when he was named with an award on his team.  It was so fun watching his enthusiasm.

Music and Baseball

I had the opportunity to attend Ty’s 4th grade music program at his school.  The music teacher there always does such a good job with the programs.  This one was entitled “Knowledge is Power” and touted the privileges of learning and expressed appreciation to all the teachers and administrators.

Ty has now finished the fall season of flag football and his baseball team plays in a league this fall on Sunday afternoons.  It is amazing to see the improvement from season to season.

At this age the boys play lots of positions but Ty especially excels at shortstop.  He is a very nifty fielder.

And as he has grown he has become a powerful hitter as well.  It has been fun to watch his development as a player.

Dedicated to God

Our little William was dedicated to God at his church recently.  Both sets of grandparents were able to attend the service and love on the little guy.

It was a special day.  His parents have pledged to bring him up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.   And we as grandparents will come along side them to encourage them and point our grandchildren to the Lord.

Ranger Soccer

One recent weekend we went to Austin primarily to see Kylie play volleyball and soccer, but also to spend some quality time with the Alexander family.  Kylie’s volleyball team ended up winning but the soccer team had a rough day and took a lopsided loss…kind of like the Longhorns who were playing at the same time.

As I said the girls won their match so they were a pretty happy team.

Saturday we went out to one of the county parks for the Rangers/Lonestars matchup and for this day the Lonestars were the winners.  Kylie played a pretty good game despite the loss.

Austin City Limits Music Festival was going on the weekend we were in Austin so the whole town was crowded.  Kylie had a ticket to the festival so in-between and after her athletic events she enjoyed the festival.  We wish we could see her play more often and we love spending time with Andrew and the rest of the family as well.

Pumpkin Patch

Part of the fun of Dewberry Farm was the Pumpkin Patch.  We took a hayride back to the patch and even though the sun was high in the sky and not the best time for photos, it was the only time that Will was awake and we were not busy with other activities. 

Mission accomplished…..fall pictures in the pumpkin patch.  I love these fall activities.  I think it is about time for a campfire with hotdogs and smores.

Dewberry Farm

I took Ty and Nathan and met Melissa and boys at Dewberry Farm for a super fun day.  It was a beautiful day that started pretty cool and cloudy and ended up warm and sunny.  The kids really enjoy being together.  Ty and Nathan are so sweet with James and Will.  We mostly did activities that James would enjoy first and then when they left after lunch for naps, Ty and Nathan had fun with some activities for the older kids.   Following are lots of photos from our fun-filled day!
