We took the Amtrak Cascades train from Seattle to Vancouver, a trip of about 2 1/2 hours. The ride was very much like European trains, very smooth and comfortable. It followed the Washington coastline and the scenery was beautiful. We saw probably fifty bald eagles flying and sitting on rocks along the north Washington shore. As far as transportation on our trip (plane, car, ferry, clipper ship), the Amtrak train was our favorite.
