Boston

Steve had a conference in Boston this past week.  We watched the news carefully right up until they captured the 2nd bombing suspect and all was clear to travel to Boston.  We arrived the day after the capture.  We were blessed with three days of good clear weather, although cold for us.

The first day we went to the Boston seaport area to eat dinner and walk.

We took a walking tour of Boston the second day we were there following the Freedom Trail.

We went to Boston Common,

State Capitol building,

Cemetery where Samuel Adams was buried among other famous patriots,

Site of the Boston Massacre,

Christ Church where Paul Revere gave instructions to the sexton to signal by lantern to warn of the impending British invasion….."one if by land, two if by sea”.

We also went to Boston’s north end, Little Italy, and enjoyed some pastries.

The third day we walked down to the Boston Public Gardens and enjoyed the cool spring weather and flowering plants and trees.

We also went to the still-closed Boylston Street where the recent marathon bombings had occurred fairly close to this area pictured above.

We also attended a Red Sox game at Fenway Park.  We enjoyed the chance to take in a game at this historic park but is was sooo cold and windy. 

The final day we were in Boston was a busy one for Steve at the convention and a cold (40 degrees) and rainy day.  I stayed at the hotel and read. 

Boston was a fun city to visit.  It was very interesting to see all the historic sites of our American heritage.

Boys and Baseball

We took a trip to Houston to see Ty play baseball and check in with our Houston daughter and her family.  The weather was beautiful and we had a fun day watching baseball and enjoying our grandsons.

They won one game and lost one game that day.

Road Trip

Steve and I visited a couple of Travis County parks last December and had a great time hiking and exploring with the Alexanders.  We said back then that we must go back in the spring to experience the parks in all their green glory.  Well usually when we say something like this we don’t follow through….but last weekend we packed a lunch, put on our hiking shoes and left CS at about 6:15am.  Hamilton Pool Park was first on our list and had just reopened after a flooding rain earlier in the week.  The pool had a lot of debris but the waterfall was running much more.

We then decided to drive on over to Pedernales Falls State Park.  It was a beautiful day to explore the park.

Now we are planning to take the grandkids to Pedernales Park this summer to swim in the river.  We think they would love it!

Steve was sweet to stop on the roadside to let me take some photos of the bluebonnets.  I love this time of year.
