Heartstrings

I love, love, love this necklace. For Mother’s Day I received this beautiful necklace appropriately called “Heartstrings”.  My daughters certainly pull my heartstrings and have a special place in my heart.  It also reminds me throughout the day to pray for each one of them.

Thank you girls for this thoughtful gift.  I wear it nearly everyday.

Water Balloons

The water balloon fight we had planned while the grandkids were at our house turned out to be kind of a bust…literally.  The balloons were very small and extremely hard to fill and tie.  Even with the difficulties, the kids managed to throw a few.

I am glad we gave the water balloons a try, although next time I will do some research and find some good quality balloons.

Slip and Slide

As the weekend went on and the temperatures were high we looked for ways to keep cool and the slip’n slide was the answer.  Steve set it up on a slight slope where they could more easily slide.

Nathan had a nap before he came out to play and when he did he tried to race Ty on the “slower” side of the slide.  Unfortunately he kind of face planted on his first try but soon was going full speed down the “faster” blue side of the slide.

After a hard day of water play, ice cream sandwiches and bomb pops were so refreshing.  We had so much fun playing in the water that day.

Karate Kids

When going through my photos from the grandkids at the splashpad, I noticed a theme going on.  I guess it is a boy thing to karate chop everything.  Maybe the new Karate Kid movie inspired them to give it their best shot.  The following collages will show you what I am talking about.

Splashpad

The grandkids spent a few days with us recently.  It turned out to be a really fun time despite my mother spending the weekend with us as well.  Also we were really missing Austin who was in the hospital receiving antibiotics.  Our first major activity was going to the Tanglewood Park splashpad.   It wasn’t too busy and they kids had a fabulous time cooling off in the water.  Below are my favorite pictures of each of the kids.

Party Time

We finally found the time to get the family together to celebrate Ty’s 7th birthday.

 Ty Circle

Ty loved his new Longhorn backpack and lunch kit!

Ty and Nathan enjoy playing with their cousin Noah.

Austin, along with help from his Grammy, bought Ty a Longhorn football uniform.

After Ty donned the uniform, the kids started trying to tackle him.  Great fun!

Cake and ice cream…mmmm.

Ty was a blessed young man with three different birthday celebrations.  First he celebrated at a restaurant in Dallas on his birthday.  Next he had a sleepover with five of his buddies and finally the family birthday party.  A 7th birthday to remember.

Aggie Baseball

Steve and I had a great time taking Ty to a recent Aggie baseball game.  We had great seats in the shade behind homeplate.

It is so relaxing to sit back and watch baseball and even better when the Aggies win.  They have since went on to win the Big 12 tournament so we will be cheering for them in the NCAA regionals.  Ty is also a big UT fan….yeah I know, how can he like both the Aggies and the Longhorns?  He is a big sports fan and loves to see his favorites (UT, TAMU, OU) play and win.  Good luck to the Aggies in regionals!

Hollon 5th Anniversary

Happy 5th Anniversary to David and Melissa!  This year the expectation of the birth of your first son adds some extra reason for celebrating.

Here are David and Melissa on her 18th birthday (February 17, 2002), a few months after they met and soon after they began dating.

The first wedding photo was taken by the photographer and I captured the second two candid photos.  I think they are just as happy today as they were five years ago… and I am certain their love has deepened.  We pray that you have many more anniversaries together….and many more babies too?!

37th Anniversary

June 1, 1973.  I know when we married those 37 years ago I was not imagining married life past Steve finishing college.  I never wondered what it would be like to be married 37 years.  I think that I would not imagine it quite as wonderful as it is.  Steve and I love the empty nest.  Don’t get me wrong, I would have to say the years of raising our children were the most awesome years of my life.  But this time in my life and our marriage has its upside as well with grandchildren at the top of the list.

Here are several photos of Steve and I on our wedding day.  (These were scanned so the color is a little off on some of them):

I have always loved this last photo with our hands together on the Bible.  It really represents what our marriage has been and continues to be….totally dependent on the Lord and His word.  Happy Anniversary Steve!
