Kylie – Ranger Soccer
Kylie has joined the Rangers select soccer in her hometown of Austin. She has enjoyed the challenging competition and the opportunity to play her favorite sport every week. The practices and games have kept her in great shape and she loves the camaraderie of her teammates. Steve and I finally made it over to Austin to watch a game and were very impressed with the talent and aggressive play of all the girls. Following are a few photos of our favorite soccer player – Kylie (#3).
We certainly enjoyed our visit with the Alexander family and watching Kylie play soccer.
We’ll be back to Austin in a couple of weeks to stay with Andrew and Kylie while their parents take a well-deserved vacation.

James at Three Weeks
I spent a couple of days in Houston this week with David, Melissa and most importantly, my new grandson James. He had already grown and begin to change since I was there a couple of weeks ago. Here are some photos while I was visiting. Melissa and I also enjoyed his first smiles. Hope David got to see some smilin’ on the weekend. You have to catch him full and rested in the morning. There was lots of holding, walking, swaying, crying, feeding and even some sleeping.
Love those blue eyes!
Love this little guy…..
We have our “come back ticket” as my mother used to say and Steve and I will be heading back for a visit in a couple of weeks.

Football Fever
Steve and I are keeping busy attending Austin and Ty’s football games each week. Austin’s team continues to be undefeated as they beat their rival A&M Consolidated Middle School this week. Austin played nearly half the game at defensive back as well as on the kick-off team. And I must say that he played very well! He was in on numerous tackles and played quite aggressively. We were very proud!
You can’t see Austin clearly here, but he one of the white jerseys making the tackle. Aren’t some of these eighth graders huge!
Austin (#19) lining up for the kick-off.
Every Tuesday and Thursday evening, Ty has continued to have flag football games. His team has won a few and lost a couple as well.
Here’s Ty pulling the flag on an opponent.
And running the ball.
Here is what Nathan does with his Dad while watching Ty.
He’s our happy-go-lucky little guy!
The weather has been beautiful and we have really enjoyed following our grandsons’ football season. I have a feeling we will have many more years of watching sports in the future.

Panther Flag Football
Ty is playing flag football again this year. He plays with a first and second grade team so this year he is the older age. They are having great fun trying out different positions.
Ready for instructions from his coach.
Calling the signals at quarterback.
Running the ball.
Lining up on defense.
Going in for the tackle.
Ty played well on both sides of the ball. I would like to see him throw more at quarterback because he has a really good arm….maybe next game. On defense he seems to have a really good sense of where the ball is going which at his age is a big advantage. We will keep you posted as the season progresses.

Two Tough Characters
I took the boys to the park after school this week. They started playing Star Wars and really got their imaginations going. This is my new favorite photo of Ty and Nathan. The wanted to take a serious photo….. because after all they were two tough characters from Star Wars. They are some pretty formidable guys.
I did catch them laughing and smiling as well.
Ty at seven years old…..….shh don’t tell anyone else….he has three girlfriends.
Love Nathan’s blue eyes!

Meeting the Cousins
All James’ cousins (some aunts and uncles too) were able to come to Houston just a few days after he was born to meet the newest member of the family. They were all so sweet with him.
{Mark actually came to the hospital to see James}
Welcome to the family James….you will be chasing the cousins around by next year at this time!

Welcome Home
I was able to spend the first week in Houston helping out with James. We only had one rough night before Melissa’s milk came in and then it was bliss for James.
Following are a few pictures from his first days at home.
Oh how I wish I had a good camera and a blog when the other grandkids were born. I love taking photos and James is a non-moving target right now….I look forward to watching him grow and change and documenting with photos.
