Day one of our recent trip to Germany and Austria found us arriving and spending just one evening and a morning in Munich. We had been to Munich years ago for one evening in December and just a few hours on the way home from a mission trip in Steyr, Austria. So this was our chance to wander around the Zentrum (center)of the city.
Hofbrauhaus was literally steps from our hotel (Platzl Hotel) so we stopped by to check it out. The beer was served in huge glasses, lively music was playing and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
Marienplatz is dominated by the Rathaus (city government building) and its famous Glockenspiel which play a couple of times per day.
Spires and beautiful buildings all around.
Musicians playing in the square.
I love doors and Steve is accustomed to me stopping by beautiful doors to take photos.
Wednesday morning before we left for Bavaria we went to Marienplatz to go up in the bell tower of Saint Peter Church.
The steps up to the bell tower were old, steep and numerous.
But the view from the top was glorious and worth every step.
