Masontown Hike

While Steve went fishing, Lanie Taylor and I took off on a hike to Masontown, an old mining town. As we were heading to the bike path on the way to the trailhead, we saw this fox. The lodgepole pine have been nearly erradicated because of pine beetles. Very sad to see all the brown trees.
Here is the view about halfway on the trail, looking toward Loveland Pass.
I love the way the aspen look and move against the Colorado blue sky.
The trail was fairly steep but the hike is short to Masontown. You can continue on to the top of Mount Royal which is a very steep climb.
This view is the reward for the climb. Lake Dillon and the Frisco Marina in the foreground and snowcapped mountains in distance. We enjoy this hike as we can leave our condo and be on the trail in about five minutes.
