Castles

When in Bavaria we toured the three “Ludwig” castles, Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau, and Linderhof.   Ludwig was one of the kings of Bavaria in the 1800’s.  All were beautiful in their own way.

Neuschwanstein.  It looks like the Disney castle.

View from the King’s bedroom in Hohenschwangau.  What a gorgeous view!

Linderhof Castle 5-2011 (43)

This is Linderhof Castle.  It was designed after Versailles, but just on a much smaller scale.

The grounds of this castle were just breathtaking.

We had great weather to tour the castles and really enjoyed walking the grounds and the trails up to the castles.  The King Ludwig II was an interesting character and was actually declared insane.  Hohenschwangau was his parents castle where he grew up and he had both Linderhof and Neuschwanstein built.
