Kansas Crouses

Steve and I are on our yearly vacation to Summit County Colorado via the Sam Crouse farm in Kansas. Steve's brother Sam owns about a million acres (or at least several thousand) planted mostly in wheat in far northwest Kansas. On Friday morning before we left for Colorado, Steve rode in the "buddy" seat in Sam's humongous sprayer as they sprayed for weeds in about 160 acres all before 9:00am. Here is Steve and Sam in front of the sprayer. Uncle Steve seems to be a favorite of his niece and nephews, or at least they make him feel special. They always warmly welcome him (and me) and seem to just enjoy spending time with him. Maybe it's his grandfatherly nature. Below are Amy, Uncle Steve and Will Crouse.
This is Ben. He has the most beautiful green eyes. He will be a lady-killer someday.
And this is Peter, better known to Uncle Steve as Pistol Pete. He is a very busy three year old. He tries his best to keep up with his older brothers and sister. Just make sure you know where your car keys are (or combine keys for that matter), they have been known to disappear around this little guy!
Sam, Jan and kids were preparing to go camping at a lake this weekend in their nearly new camper. They have a fishing spot there where they have caught numerous catfish, one as large as about 11 pounds. Jan and some friends were also entered in a sand sculpture contest up in Nebraska in conjunction with their camping trip. Sand sculptures in Nebraska?!
And lastly, this photo below is one view from their house. Lots of wide open spaces where you can see sunrise to sunset. It has a beauty all it's own.
Steve is already planning his yearly return in November for pheasant hunting and they might try their luck with wild turkeys this year. Thanks Kansas Crouses for your hospitality.
