Currently, Shrine Ridge Trail is our favorite hike. There are others in the running to knock it off the top spot, but for now Shrine Ridge reigns.
Above is Black Lake which is on the way to the trailhead. Steve caught two rainbow trout in this lake last year.
This is the view of the Gore Range on the ascent up the trail.
About three quarters of the way to the top we come upon snow. For Texans this is a rare sight anytime, let alone in July!
The wildflowers are spectacular this year. The mountains have received ample rain and they were plentiful all along the trail.
This is one of the rock formations at the top of the trail with the Gore Range in the background.
Here are Steve and I at the top of the world! We had a fantastic 360 degree view from the top. We hope to repeat this hike before we leave Colorado.
