The Allbritton’s were staying in a fabulous house overlooking Breckenridge and invited us to their house one evening for s’mores.
Beautiful view.
This was the firepit area view from the house.
It is hard to imagine that we needed to warm ourselves by the fire when we had so recently come from the heat in Texas.
Taylors.
Terrals.
A bit blurry Steve and Jana.
We had so much laughter.
Steve A. relaxing…..and wearing his Walmart greeter hat.
Tina with a reflection of the fire in her eyes.
The Onya sisters in attendance were “on fire” that evening.
We enjoyed dessert and the some of us drove up Boreas Pass after dark to star gaze. I cannot describe how beautiful the stars were that night. We serve an Awesome God!
The hike to Upper Mohawk Lake was a repeat hike from a couple years ago but it was a hike that we were all anxious to repeat.
There are several gorgeous waterfalls along the trail.
The photos below give you an idea of how steep the trail is at times.
We had to climb these rock up to some old mining ruins.
Small waterfall in the valley below the trail.
This is the view as you climb up the trail of Upper Mohawk Lake. If you look closely you can see the lake coming into view at eye level. Such an awesome feeling to reach this lake after hiking uphill for a long time.
Photo below is another view of the lake as you come up the trail.
Pretty reflection of the sky.
We refreshed ourselves with snacks at 12,000 ft.+
This is our third time to hike Mohawk Lake Trail. It was so much fun and a good workout!
We took the Taylor’s 4-wheel drive pickup to Webster Pass in search of mountain goats and just to enjoy the views.
The ride was bumpy but the views were spectacular.
Below are a few photos from last year’s trip to Webster Pass.
The mountain goats were awesome.
We went to Mt. Evans (elevation 14,264 ft.) last year but we were somewhat crunched for time so we decided to take the trip again. You can drive the Mt. Evans road to 14,130 ft. and then walk up to the summit at 14,264 ft. We were not disappointed. It was a beautiful morning and the views were spectacular. The group had some fun climbing to the peak and posing on the rocks.
A mountain goat on the main building at the summit of Mt. Evans.
We had beautiful views from the summit.
Steve was the first to make it to the summit rocks.
Wow we are up high!
After we came down from the rocks a marmot decided to check out the view.
Interesting rock formation.
As we were coming down from the summit of Mt. Evans we stopped at Summit Lake and took a short walk to the overlook of Chicago Lakes.
I thought this was an interesting flower.
We stopped once more at Echo Lake for a picnic lunch but the storm clouds were gathering and we called it a day.
