Mt. Royal

Steve and I again made the trek up Mt. Royal for our second time.  The trailhead is fairly close to our condo for easy accessibility.  The trail goes from about 9,000 ft. to 10,494, rated moderately difficult and is all uphill.

We were fascinated with the bristlecone pine.  Following is a description of the tree from Wikipedia.  The bristlecone pines are a small group of pine trees (family Pinaceae, genus Pinus, subsection Balfourianae) that are thought to reach an age far greater than that of any other single living organism known, up to nearly 5,000 years.  The bristlecones at the top of Mt. Royal were said to be at least 2,000 years old!

We had a 360 degree view from the very peak of Mt. Royal.  This is not an “easy” hike but has easy access and although uphill with steep grades it is relatively short in distance.
